I am a mother of 3 children. We are a military family who decided to stay in the Fairfax County area after retirement so our children could partake in the educational opportunities and excellence this area afforded. I did not realize, at the time, that what was a foregone conclusion would become something I would have to end up fighting for. 
 
I am a product of a military family. I grew up here, there, and everywhere. Frequent moves meant that I had to work hard to keep up. I ended up at Colorado State University for my undergraduate degree in Psychology and at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles for my postgraduate years. I have a master’s degree in Health Care Administration and a master’s degree in Gerontology. I have many volunteer experiences under my belt but my last formal employment was as the director of a secure memory care unit in a nursing home. I intended to return to this field after I raised my children, but life is funny like that. Instead, I am called to protect another vulnerable population, the children of FCPS.
